Although our roots are in 18thCentury Liberal Christianity, today our faith encompasses a wide variety of religious beliefs and spiritual practices. Our understanding is that there are many paths toward truth & wisdom, & therefore we turn to the sacred texts of all the world’s religions for guidance. Our focus is not on what will happen when we die, but on how we can live with integrity & love.

Our congregation is vibrant and diverse, and welcomes everyone, including gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people, as full participants in the life of the church.

Our vision is to be an expression of God at work in the world. We are a place in which ALL people of faith come to be together, to worship God and to support each other. We are a caring, warm, welcoming and committed family. This vision is carried out through our many active ministries. Also, we reach out to the community through our ministries with the Interfaith Council of Franklin, Franklin Food Pantry, Taunton Deanery, One Family program, and the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts. We are a community in the best sense of the word. We are a family of Christians who gather to worship God. We endeavor to provide a spiritual space where people’s faith grows and is strengthened.

  • In worshiping and working together
  • In learning from our diversity
  • In treasuring our unity in Christ

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

We believe that God is our Heavenly Father, that He loves us and wants us to return to Him, and that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, our Savior and Redeemer. Through His Atonement we will be resurrected and can return to live with God if we keep His commandments. The Holy Ghost is given to us to help us recognize truth and bring us to Christ. We believe that God reveals His will through prophets today, just as He did anciently. We believe that our life has a sacred purpose, that families are central to our Heavenly Father’s plan for us, and that through serving others we can experience joy and draw closer to God.

The Franklin UMC is a welcoming congregation with a diversity of ages, vocations, interests, and journeys. We are a people called to be in ministry with one another in the name of Christ. We affirm our diversity as a strength and have chosen to make our journey together.

We believe the Church should be a place of nurture and growth that enables persons to live out their faith most effectively as disciples of Jesus Christ; that calls others to become disciples; and reaches out to the community and the world with our gifts and service.

At the core of the Christian faith is the idea that every human being is made in God’s image. If this is true, then we are most fully alive and at our best selves when God is in our life. When living out the love of Jesus in everyday life, we become better and we bring out the best in those around us. NEC is a community of people committed to doing this.
